Jason and the Argonauts
Visible Fiction
Saturday, October 16, 7pm
Scherr Forum Theater, Thousand Oaks
$14 child, $20 adult
This show was the hit of last season and we have decided to bring it back by popular request. Don't miss this incredible production! Two actors, countless action figures, and a Golden Fleece! Jason's uncle isn't exactly lovable…he's murdered his brother (the king) and stolen the kingdom. Things are about to get a major shake up though because Jason is BACK! After being banished, our wannabe hero returns to claim his rightful throne and make some big changes. However, in ancient times nothing's that straightforward. Sail back to ancient Greece and join Jason on his journey aboard the Argo in search of the famous Golden Fleece...watch out for the odd monster, sleeping dragon and clashing rock to spice up this most fantastic of journeys! The innovative two-man production has been described as rediscovering “the vitality of an ancient Greek myth and (performing) it in a way that is as silly as it is serious” — Mark Fisher, Hi-Arts. www.visiblefictions.co.uk | video
I have been going to see daytime theater at the Civic for the past 9 years and I have never seen a more innovative production as the one I saw today. There were two men who put on this classic Greek play with 23 different roles to play. They magically transformed a wagon, 6 action figure dolls, and each other to tell this amazing story. If it ever comes here again, I will be the first one in line.
